Vadim Shamanov

"Abstract image is the main thing that interests me in art. This is what gives the painting meaning and reflects the artist’s vision, idea, and message"

Vadim Shamanov (born in 1973 in Kremenchuk, Ukraine) is a professional artist who lives and works in Moncton, NB, Canada. He is a participant in numerous exhibitions in Ukraine and Europe.

Interest in fine arts, music, and photography originated in childhood. He received a musical and painting education. But it was painting that became the main way of self-realization. The main sources of his inspiration are the music and art of great artists such as Richter, Nicolas de Staël, Kandinsky, and Pollock.

As a way of self-expression, Vadim Shamanov chose abstract painting, which allows the author to convey his creative ideas through the color and texture of oil paint.
His abstract works are distinguished by layering, complex composition, as well as a desire for volume and depth. With the help of a subtle three-dimensional effect in his paintings, he establishes contact with his viewer.
For Shamanov, color and form play an important role in his paintings. They become a way of expressing emotions and thoughts. When they are all brought together in a painting, it becomes a way of communication between the viewer and the artist.

Before creating a painting, the artist spends some time thinking about the painting for inspiration before sketching the final sketch on the canvas. He works out all the colors for the picture in his mind.
Sometimes, to achieve a result, he needs to go through a difficult working path and the concept of painting can change in the process.

In his opinion, painting is a way of expressing thoughts and emotions that are difficult to express aloud. Art can be a very powerful way of communicating with others.
In constant search for new means of expression, Shamanov experiments with materials and surfaces, using steel sheets or OSB boards, as well as modern pigments.
